week1.happynewblog

Well hello, folks! It's been a while since I've blogged - you might remember my "5k-a-day" blog I started in the middle of my quarter life crisis. Yes it was May 2012 and I had just turned 25 and realized I need to get my butt moving more. Well guess what else I realized? Blogging everyday takes ALOT of work. I admire those who can keep it going (such as my buddy Ajyra with her DIY mymaisonplace blog). I can't even count how many journals I have attempted to start and haven't kept up. Each time I create this fantasy that one day it will turn into a novel…. yeah I guess novels usually are longer than 5 pages though. Same with blogging. I love the idea of reflecting and sharing, but man I stink at keeping the darn thing going!

So here I am, making yet another promise to blog. But I plan to do it this time just once a week. I have come to accept that this thing might just die out yet again - it might just turn into once a month - but oh well. Life would be boring if we never did anything because we thought we couldn't keep it going.

I have also decided to make my focus instead of doing 5 kilometers a day, but rather doing at least 5 miles a day. I recently became addicted to my new FitBit thanks to my aunt Chris, and the Fitbit pedometer and program recommends taking about 10,000 steps, or moving about 5 miles, everyday. This includes not just time out actually running, but all the steps you take at work, around the house, and so on. I am not aiming to beat a time like I was before, or to do it all while running. Rather, I just want to move more. Once I reach this goal of simply moving 5 miles each day, I may expand on my goals from there. For proof, because I'm all about accountability and measurement - I plan to post my reports from my Fitbit app so you skeptics out there believe me! Here are the last 4 days since January 1st (when I decided to start my goal - oh and yes it does happen to fall around the time people make new years resolutions…but in an effort to not totally set this goal up to fail I will refrain from calling it such a thing.)

Cheers to a new year, new blog, and a new goal of just getting out there and moving more!
